A hint of saut?ed morel mushroom adds an aromatic note to the generous ripe plum and black cherry flavors. A nice loamy earth, forest floor and cedary edge marks the finish.

(Barrel Tasting 91-93) The aromas and flavors are all beautifully articulated. Pretty and fruit driven and laced with sweet tobacco, cedar, sage and smoke. I very much like the way Hobbs has drawn out the density of the fruit but without any excess heaviness.

The pale-colored 2004 Brut Rose flows with subtle, silky layers of perfumed fruit. This is an understated, almost shy wine, although its class and pedigree are evident. 70% Pinot Noir from Cumieres that was cold-macerated on the skins for 6-7 days, and 30% Chardonnay from Avize and Mesnil.

Light, delicate and appealing for its cherry and earth flavors, which build momentum as they reach the lively, slightly tart finish. The flavors linger nicely against refined tannins.
