| | Listerine really is an antiseptic; and, it tastes like one, too. For certain, it kills germs; but, the taste is unbearable. The recommendation is to use this twice a day, about 30 seconds each time. I cannot keep it in my mouth for that long because the taste is so strong; and, for me, gargling with it is an "impossibility." Anonymous
