| | | Summary: | "Kid's MyBoard ™ keboard and Tiny Mouse ™" Posted By Charlotte from Utah | | Pros: | Kid-friendly, well designed, comes with software that effectively exploits the hardware's potential. | | Cons: | The mouse is an optical mouse using a laser to detect mouse movement. I don't know if looking at the red laser light (attractive to a 3-year-old) presents a vision risk, but supervised use is probably warranted. | | | | | | I bought the Kid's Complete Starter Set for my 3-year-old garndaughter to accompany her mother's old computer recently replaced by a newer computer. The set included the MyBoard ™ keboard and Tiny Mouse ™, along with 3 Reader Rabit software programs. The laerge colored keys make it much easier for our 3-year-old to find the right keys in the letter matching games on the Reader Rabbbit Pre-School disc. She has been keen on matching card games fopr the last few months, and the computer games are a good fit for her. Her hadnd is not small enough to lift a standard-sized mouse off the table when needed to manipulate the cursor, but the Tiny Mouse ™ is just right for making this possible. Color-coding is used to advantage on both the keyboard and the mouse. Vowels are green, consonants purple, numbers red. The mouse we received with the set has one solid blue and one solid red button, making it easy for a child to learn which button to click. One caveat: The mouse is an optical mouse using a laser to detect mouse movement. I don't know if looking at the red laser light (attractive to a 3-year-old) presents a vision risk, but supervised use is probably warranted.
