Kettler Verso CT 307 Eliptical Trainer
One time I've entered a small fitness club in Budapest, Hungary. The only item of interest (because of my knees) is the elliptical trainer. They had one and I was delighted...until I got on it. It was a shabby piece of equipment one worried about destroying.
This experience kept me away from even looking at elliptical trainers for the home. Last week I was in a shop to purchase a trampoline and while waiting for my receipt I looked at the other machines in the store. Among the line-up was the Kettler Verso CT 307. Had nothing else to do so I got on to try it.
What a pleasant surprise! The machine did not whine and sway but performed like a professional gym quality equipment. As the elliptical is still the only reason I would join a gym but because there are only two of these at the gym with usually a line of people waiting - the thought kept coming back to me about 'what if'.
The next day I returned to try it again. Still the same pleasant experience - so what is one to do?! Asked them to put a sold sign on it and opened my phone to make arrangements to get it home.
It had been 3 days now - each day at least once I do a 45 minute workout on it at a 5-6 setting. This is on purpose as I've not been working out lately and the pounds piled on - living alone, I realize that if I overdue it I could keel over and the cats can't call an ambulance. |

CardioZone CG1HR 'Compact' Elliptical Cross Trainer **Featuring Manually Adjustable Stride Length**
As elliptical machines go, the CG1HR is very compact. I have shopped around and it is one of the most compact there is in it’s category. It 47-inch footprint means that you can fit it almost anywhere. If you have about 6 feet to spare, you’re good to go. But make no mistake about it, at 242 pounds, this is one heavy, sturdy machine. Its most prominent feature is its adjustable stride length, which means that everybody in the family can use it, even my 8 year old. Whisper quiet, it generates almost no noise or vibration. Sweat beads rolling off your forehead will make more noise than this. It can easily hold a book thanks to a lip located at the lower end of its display which, by the way has a full array of programs and features and is very easy to use. The CG1HR comes with a heart rate monitor that straps on to your chest for constant pulse monitoring and also has the standard hand sensors located on the secondary middle handles. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. The only thing missing is a built-in fan. |

Image 9.5 Elliptical
Just purchased Image 8.5 elliptical machine from WalMart. The price is attractive at $295 including taxes and 2 year extended warranty. Assembly was pretty straight forward with better than average instructions and a fastner kit with matching labels to the drawings ! Use a ratchet and hex bit to tighten the button head screws that attach the main frame to the front cross foot. The supplied allen wrenches do not give you enough leverage to properly tighten these bolts which results in a wobbly workout. Properly tightened, the machine straightened out and seems to be a pretty good machine for the money. The welds on my machine looked good, continuous and smooth with a good quality powder coat finish. Double heavy steel bushings at all moving junctions should give the machine lots of years of use. I think the joints should be opened for re-lubrication once a year, but no one will probably ever do it which will probably lead to squeaking, binding and perhaps lockup. There is a clever height adjustment for the upper body hand levers, but I have reservations about how the plastic clamp mechanisms will hold up over time. Anyway, first day says a good value for an entry level elliptical from the ICON group. I will report again after some regular use. |
