This movie deserves a standing ovation for surprising attention to detail and fantastic choreography. It does not follow Homer's work precisely and has its own interpretations of event in "The Iliad" but it creates a reality that is astounding in its historical accuracy and re-enacts battle scenes that are so stunningly real that they will leave you clutching your seat in trepidation. It is a great movie which I love completely and watch every time I get the chance! |

Although this movie is getting to it's 10th anniversary, it is still a great classic. This is one of the best "mankind overcoming disaster" movies there is. The effects are very realistic, and the storyline is executed perfectly. A great addition to any DVD collection. |

Any film with the rock should automatically mean you should stay away from it. This is no exception, and a clear example of why not to let professional wrestlers star in films. |

Luckily Kubrick rapidly improved after making the Killing. While its not bad, it goes to show even Kubrick needed time with film to really perfect it. Interesting watch for Kubrick fans. |

Interesting enough, I find this film to be just above average in the Noir genre. The performances and the characters are fleshed out, but genre hollywood is not usually my cup of tea. |

I found the book to be a much more acurate anti war demonstration then the film. The film is good, but check out the novel for a true depiction. |

Another dated so called masterpiece, nearly all critics are all to wrong. The story of Robinhood was never done justice in film unless it was being made fun of. Sigh. |

A rather average film, that has for, whatever reason, been hailed as great over the years. I can see why some might like it, and Harrison Ford puts in a good performance, but its poorly directed. |

Another film I felt should not be called a classic. It is overlong and with little depth. Hardly an epic film, but I can see why some people may enjoy it. |

While Bug is the best movie Friedkin has made (Comeback maybe), this is ok, worth a watch. Don't expect anything groundbreaking however (The hype just doesn't suit it) |

Hitchcock was great at doing one thing, but I believe him to be fairly shallow, really only good at manipulating the audience. Here we have a thriller, and he was great at those, but true directors and pure artists make films a bit deeper. |

The only film of the trilogy that is actually better then average, it is a shame that hollywood had to follow the dreaded sequel mistakes (Bigger badder better never works)
Depp is at his best here, and Jack Sparrow will forever remain an icon for motion pictures. 4/5 Stars. |

Kill Bill Volume 2. Packs just as much of a punch as the first volume, without the reliance on heavy blood and action. The kick in the gut here comes from the script, intense dramatic moments and brilliant directing from Tarantino. Volume 2 is a perfect counterpoint to the first film, and its must see. 4/5 Stars. |

Its a shame criterion has wasted time on this dvd when so many others have gone unnoticed and unreleased. I am not quite sure how this made it to a very respectable company, as its well known to give amazing films respectable dvd releases, but I suppose everyone makes mistakes now and then. |

Tony Scott further proves to everyone that he is style over substance, and Denzel is to comfortable in the only role he seems to be able to play. A standard hollywood thriller that does anything but, please avoid at all costs. |

I was very pleasantly surprised at this film. Denzel Washington proves again that he can handle any role that he chooses to play. In this case, he plays homicide inspector, Lincoln Rhyme who has been nearly paralyzed after suffering from an accident in the line of duty. But now, when a mysterious killer begins killing off people in a very peculiar matter, he must team with a hard-headed rookie cop (Angelina Jolie) to solve the crimes. Supporting cast includes Queen Latifah, Michael Rooker, Mike McGlone, Luis Guzman, Leland Orser and Ed O'Neil.
I like the way they have the killer as an intelligent person. Someone who has a knowledge of what he is doing. And the way he leaves clues for the cops to follow. To come up with something this perfect, you must a genius. While not really scary, this suspense thriller is actually thrilling as opposed to the many number of "thrillers" that are not even thrilling. (Example: HANGMAN). Thank you Hollywood for giving us THE BONE COLLECTOR. This is a good one. Highly recommended.....5/5. |

Honey (Alba) is a sexy, tough music video choreographer who shakes up her life after her mentor gives her an ultimatum: sleep with him or be blacklisted within their industry. When she declines his offer, he fires her and makes sure she doesn't get another choreographer job.
'Honey' has it's heart in the right place even though it's brain veers of course sometimes. Alba leads the cast well and adds much pizazz into the dance scenes. Missy Elliot has a good cameo. The dance scenes, obviously, carry the film with fun moves and songs. The final dance number is definitely the best scene in the film and it brings the movie to a good, refreshing close. So, even though it is uneven, In the end, 'Honey' turns out to be a jazzy, fun dance film with it's heart in the right place. *** |

alright, i thought i should start up a new board on this one. i did not care for this adaptation at all. i really appreciated rodriguez's insight on seeing all the crappy comic book movies being made out there, and decided to keep this film as original to the books as possible. i admire him for that. but... i still think this movie blew harder than a clown inflating balloons at a kids bday party! i am a huge fan of the novels, i was anticipating the release of this movie for sooo long, and when the trailer came out i thought it was gonna be the best thing since sliced bread, but, i felt it blew. i could go into many of the things i disliked about the film, and somethings i did like. but i'm gonna stick with one dislike, the adaptation. everybody seemed to think it was amazing. but i felt different. as much as i 'thought' this was a good way to bring pages to the screen. i began to realize that it takes a lot more than just setting the camera up exactly like frank millers framework and hitting record. i find it takes more from a director to help 'add' a cinematic feel to a film. somethings that work on paper, don't work on screen. and 'frankly' i don't care for rodriguez as a director. well i could go further, but i'd like to hear from others before i do. thankyas. |
