Shock Doctor Shock Doctor Power Hockey w/ Flex Cup :374-275-06
Our 13 year old just loves this supporter and cup. After a couple of years with struggling with him to wear a traditional (straps and bare butt) "nut cup" (as Brandon and his friends call them), he gladly wears this one and feels comfortable enough to wear it around the house, motel room, locker room, etc. wherever he is getting ready for the game. He tried on other styles that were loose fitting boxer type and choose this tighter fitting shock doctor. A couple of his friends tried the shorts and cup on and liked it enough to have their parents order it for them also.
There is extra padding around the cup to make it more comfortable to wear. The cup size is adequate for a boy his age. Brandon started puberty a few months ago so everything is getting bigger but the cup should still fit him for a couple of years. Many people say that cup size is determined by waist size, but I disagree. A waist size of 26-28 on a boy before he starts puberty requires a smaller cup than a teen or preteen boy with the same size waist. The waist band is also adjustable which should make the jock unit last longer. It seems to be made extremely well to last a long time. He will probably get to high school and outgrow the cup portion before he wears the material portion out. I am not sure if a larger cup would fit in the pouch or not. Maybe his little brother will be able to wear it in a few years.
At first we were worried that it looked like it would be hot and sweaty for him to wear. (Since his old traditional jock style had very little material and really only covered the genitals in the front.)
After the first game he said it was cool and he didn't seem to sweat much underneath. Most of the sweat must have been whisked away as the product details state. His old jock would still be wet the next day when his mom would remove the cup from the pouch to wash it. For some reason he tried to wear his boxers underneath it once. They got soaking wet from sweat. He had to peel off the jock unit and boxers once he got back to the hotel. Brandon would recommend that boys go naked underneath. If you don't want to be naked in the changing room, you can put in on at home and slip the cup in later. If the arena didn't have showers, Brandon would usually wear the jock as underwear under his jeans and not take it off until he got home. He would remove the cup to make it more comfortable to sit in the van or bus to get home. This jock would be recommended for any boy who needs comfortable protection.
