| | SortPrice.com Reports Highly Successful 2010 for Retailers Using its Store
Application for Facebook ® Platform
$3.8 Billion in Merchandise and 7.6 Million Products on SortPrice-built
Storefronts Alone Last Year
With social shopping becoming more popular than ever in 2010, SortPrice.com
released some impressive data today that firmly establishes the comparison
search engine, and its Store Application for Facebook Platform, as the
leading resource for retailers who want to expand their social reach.
"Last year, retailers across the board began to realize the importance of
hopping on the social shopping bandwagon," said Asaf Klibansky, SortPrice's
co-founder and CTO. "And as they have since 2008 when we introduced the Store
Application, more merchants turned to SortPrice.com than anyone else to help
them tap into the enormous audiences available to them on Facebook."
Introduced in 2008, SortPrice's Store Application is the longest-running tool
of its kind on Facebook Platform. Since then, SortPrice has built Facebook
stores for more than 1,500 retailers, more than anyone else in the industry.
Perhaps most impressively, and unlike some competing services, SortPrice has
maintained its leadership and excellence in social shopping without any outside
funding or venture capital support.
The new 2010 performance data is indicative of social shopping's recent rise in
popularity, but it also proves how and why the year firmly established SortPrice
as the industry's social shopping leader:
- 2010 was the biggest year yet for the Store Application; there was more than
$3.78 billion worth of merchandise on SortPrice-built Facebook storefronts
throughout the year.
- SortPrice merchants posted more than 7.6 million products on their Facebook
storefronts in 2010, 60 percent more total products than the 4.6 million in
2009.
- Almost 40 percent of all the retailers now using the Store Application from SortPrice added it in 2010. The 1,500-plus retailers using SortPrice's
application—including many Fortune 500 companies—represents the largest roster
of merchants on any one social commerce application.
- By 2010, there were approximately 53,000 different product categories on SortPrice-built Facebook storefronts and
28 different product industry
categories, both tops in the industry.
